Australia emerged as the ICC under-19 World Cup winners, defeating India by 79 runs at Williamson Park in Benoni on February 11, 2024. The young Aussies backed their fourth Under-19 World Cup and closed the gap to only one less than India.

The first Under-19 World Cup was played in 1988 and was won by host Australia, with Pakistan ending up as the runners-up.

Most successful teams in ICC Under-19 World Cups

1.India

India has been the most successful team till now in capturing the Under-19 World Cups. The Blue Tigers have won the coveted trophy five times. The first triumph came in the year 2000, when Mohammed Kaif led his side to a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. Since then, India has won another four, which came in the years 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.

2.Australia

Australia were the first team to win the ICC Under-19 World Cup. The young Aussies won their first title in the inaugural season in 1988, when Geoff Parker’s team defeated Pakistan by five wickets. After 14 years of waiting, the Aussies grabbed their second and third titles in 2002 and 2010, beating the young Proteas in 2002 and Pakistan in 2010. Australia’s fourth Under-19 World Cup was in 2024, when they defeated India in the finals by 79 runs.

3.Pakistan

Pakistan is one of the most consistent sides when it comes to the Under-19 World Cup. They have only won the tournament twice; their consistency is on other levels. They are the only team in history to defend their title, which they did in 2006. Pakistan won their maiden ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2004 and defended the title in 2006 to win their second.
